We all know that drinking water is vital, but trying to drink the right amount of it is not very enjoyable all the time. Here are some tips for those of you who find it difficult to drink enough water.
Water is vital and irreplaceable
70% of the human body is made up of water. That’s why drinking enough water is vital for all bodily functions. It balances the blood pressure, regulates body temperature, keeps the joints and cells healthy, etc.
Whether you’re working out regularly or not, you may sometimes get dehydrated. If you’re having symptoms like headache or lightheadedness, you better think about how many glasses of water you drink throughout the day. It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses (2 litres) of water a day. Consider your activity level, health status, and local climate as well.
If you’re having troubles with drinking enough water, check out our tips to increase your water intake and keep track of it.
1) Replace other drinks with water
Drinking water instead of sugary sodas and sports drinks is a good way to start increasing your water intake. Keep in mind that these sugary beverages make you gain extra calories. On the contrary, drinking water helps you eat less and lose weight.
2) Carry a reusable water bottle with you
Keeping a big water bottle with you throughout the day can help you drink more water. The weight of the bottle in your backpack reminds you to drink water and you drink more water to get rid of that extra load. Reusable water bottles are also an environment-friendly solution.
3) Set reminders
You can set reminders from your phone to drink water. You can try setting an alarm for every 30 minutes to take a sip of water, or you can set an alarm per hour at work to drink a glass of water every time the alarm goes off.
4) Add some flavor to your water
If you simply don’t like the taste of water or you don’t find the taste “enjoyable”, add some flavor to it. You can put some cucumber, lime, lemon, mint leaves, strawberry, or any fruit you like. You can even make a fruit mixture of your taste to add to your water bottle.
5) Hydrate when you wake up and after you take a shower
To start your day more energetically and refreshed, drink a glass of water after cleaning your mouth in the morning. It will increase your alertness.
To sum up
Keep in mind that taking hot showers can also dehydrate your skin and make you feel thirsty. Make it a habit to drink a glass of water after every shower.
