The show has drawn much more attention since Chris learned on one of the episodes that his genes make him prone to developing Alzheimer’s disease. This doesn’t necessarily mean he will definitely have Alzheimer’s, but the odds are high.
But hacking your genes and reversing, or at least slowing down, this process is possible with better lifestyle choices.
“How?”, we hear you ask. And the answer is “With the help of intermittent fasting”.
Can intermittent fasting help dementia?
Dementia is a general term that covers several diseases including Alzheimer’s disease. It is scientifically proven that inflammation is a key factor in developing dementia, including Alzheimer’s. (1)
So yes, switching your eating pattern to intermittent fasting will probably be beneficial for reducing the inflammation levels in your body, and therefore be helpful to help you fight dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
What is intermittent fasting, and what is it good for?
The benefits of intermittent fasting aren’t just limited to boosting brain health. It is an eating pattern that is mostly used for its lasting weight loss effects.
While doing intermittent fasting, you don’t necessarily limit calories as with any other traditional diet. Its main concern is to divide a day into two time periods, called the eating window and the fasting window.
During your eating window, you can eat whatever you want without counting calories, and during your fasting window, you stop consuming foods and caloric beverages.
The best part of intermittent fasting is that you can choose a schedule that ideally suits your lifestyle and goals. If you have a hard time choosing an intermittent fasting plan, get help from Fasting Kopanion to find the best suitable plan for you.
How did Chris Hemsworth lose weight with intermittent fasting?
Going back to Chris Hemsworth, he’s a practitioner of intermittent fasting.
Although we know him for his Thor-like bulky body, he needed to lose a good amount of weight in a very short time back in 2015 to shoot the film “In the Heart of the Sea”.
Chris’s personal trainer, Luke Zocchi declared that intermittent fasting was the best possible way for a big man like Chris to lose weight, and the process was a big success.
Zocchi adds that intermittent fasting is still his favorite nutrition strategy to boost weight loss among his Hollywood clients.
Chris Hemsworth’s intermittent fasting plan
Chris explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he fasted for at least 15 hours a day! So Chris chose the 16/8 intermittent fasting plan.

But considering that he had to lose a LOT of weight, his trainer advised him to restrict calories too. To accelerate his weight loss process up to the day shooting began, he consumed only 500 to 600 calories several days a week.
Last words
If your aim is to lose a lot of weight, you should consult a medical professional before restricting calories, as it can have health risks and can lead to muscle loss.
Using intermittent fasting as a disease prevention method is also a serious matter and requires medical support.
